- No provincial sales tax (PST). Residents in every other province pay up to 10% on top of the GST.
- Low property taxes.
- The lowest gasoline tax rate among the provinces.
- A single rate tax system, including the highest basic and spousal exemptions in the country.
The City of Calgary conducted a “Residential Property Taxes and Utility Charges Survey” in 2014, in which property taxes and utility charges for an average, single-detached house in major Canadian cities were surveyed.
