The Palliser region has safe communities with modern infrastructure including health care, protective and emergency services, utilities, and transportation.
Alberta has a publicly administered and funded health system that provides universal access to medical services and hospitalization for all Albertans. This in turn, ensures Albertans have the healthcare they need, and employers are provided with lower overall health costs and improved productivity.
Health care in the Palliser region is provided by Alberta Health Services. Numerous hospitals and clinics are available throughout the region, with the most prominent care centres being:
- Medicine Hat Regional Hospital
- Bow Island Health Centre
- Brooks Health Centre
- Bassano Hospital
- Big County Hospital (Oyen)
- Hanna Health Centre
In addition to these facilities, the communities also provide access to various other health professionals and social services including Acute Care, Community Health, Clinical Support, Ambulatory Clinics, Continuing Care, Volunteer Services and Physician Services.
Protective and Emergency Services
The communities that make up the Palliser region are safe and friendly. Our crime rates are lower than many other Canadian cities, including Red Deer and Lethbridge.
The City of Medicine Hat has its own police force. Bassano, Bow Island, Brooks, Hanna, Oyen, Foremost, and Redcliff are policed by RCMP detachments. In addition to police and bylaw protection, the Palliser region has access to ambulance, fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). For emergency service, call 911.
