The Palliser Region is characterized by high growth and development, with increased commercial and industrial building activity.
The region has activity in all sectors, as evident by the substantial number of major projects that have either been recently completed, are under construction or are proposed to start construction.
As the region continues to grow and prosper, it is clear that investments are being made in institutions and infrastructure to achieve balance and continue to make the region an attractive place to live, work and do business within.
Building permits continue to be awarded in commercial, industrial, institutional and residential areas.
As of December 2008, there were 27 projects that were proposed, planned, under construction or recently completed in the Palliser Region. The total value of these projects for the region was close to $2.3 billion. The largest projects are in the power and institutional sectors ($1.6 billion and $340 million respectively). Other sectors include tourism ($160 million), agriculture ($16 million), infrastructure ($83 million), commercial/retail ($13 million), oil and gas ($36 million) and residential ($18 million).
