In addition to having these assets, the Region has a reputation for hosting sporting events such as the 2002 Alberta Winter Games, the 2008 Alberta Summer Games, the Continental Cup of Curling in 2005 and 2007, and the 17-and-under Baseball Canada Cup in 2005, 2006, and 2008.
