MD of Acadia is one of the few Municipalities in the area (incorporated when Alberta was first opened up to homesteads) which survived the 30's and the great depression in "the black".

The Palliser Region has raw materials such as low cost natural gas resources that are used to produce petrochemicals and specialty chemicals used in the production of plastics, antifreeze, film, fibres, and other products.
