FILM
Alberta 's Film industry is responsible for millions of dollars in economic activity, thousands of jobs and has put Alberta on the "map" by promoting awareness that has resulted in investment attraction and increased tourism.
 |
In 2004, it is estimated that $129 million in economic activity was generated by Alberta's film industry. This resulted from a total direct spend of $69.6 million in Alberta. The three levels of government collected total tax revenues of $49 million as a result of this. With an estimated $1.20 of every dollar invested going back to the province, the film industry is indeed lucrative and provides many opportunities for Albertans. |
Palliser Economic Partnership is pleased to promote many well-known movies filmed in Southern Alberta through a tourism initiative titled Reel Adventures: Alberta Movie Maps.
Reel Adventures provides visitors to the region with a series of Southern Alberta driving tours. Movie buffs, adventure seekers, and families and friends interesting in discovering where the scenes on the silver screen were filmed are encouraged to download theme tour maps. Add to the mix a variety of local attractions along the way and you have the perfect recipe for a road trip (or two or three) in some of the most beautiful locations in the world.
These maps with highlights of all three tours is available at Visitor Information Centres across the province as well as at www.albertamoviemaps.com
