ARTS AND CULTURE

 

Museums, historic sites and cultural celebrations are plentiful throughout the Palliser Region.

bow theatre

There are active performing arts communities in Brooks (concert society), Foremost (theatre group) and Bow Island (blues group).

The Medicine Hat College Theatre and Medicine Hat Musical Theatre Association host regular theatre productions by Medicine Hat groups.

Some of the finest blues artists in North American gather at the historic Bow Theatre in Bow Island as part of Blues at the Bow Live.

Medicine Hat is home to the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District, celebrating over a century in ceramics.

The Medicine Hat Cultural Centre houses a Fibre Arts Studio, Art Studies, Ceramics Studio, Photo Lab, Art Gallery , Black Box Theatre, and the Medicine Hat College 's Dance and Music Academies.

Medicine Hat Jazz Festival takes place annually throughout Medicine Hat in June.

Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre in Medicine Hat combines art gallery, museum and theater under one roof.

The world's tallest Teepee, the Saamis Teepee, was originally constructed for the Calgary 1988 Olympics and is a tribute to Canada 's First Nation's people.

Other cultural activities and festivals in the City of Medicine Hat include the Annual Polka Festival, Annual Young Artist's Concerto Competition, Ralston Arts Festival, Rotary Music Festival and the Rose Bowl Competition.
