Primary and Secondary Education

The Fraser Institute conducts a Report Card on Alberta High Schools annually, whereby high schools are compared base don a series of objective measures. In the 2007 edition, out of 274 schools analyzed, Foremost High School ranked in the top 10 and Senator Gershaw High School in Bow Island ranked in the top 20. Other schools having performed above the Alberta average include South Central High School in Oyen and St. Joseph 's High School in Brooks.

Home Schooling Information

The Home Schooling/Education programs provide parents who are interested with the opportunity to educate their child at home or elsewhere. Program information and planning assistance is available through Medicine Hat School District 76 or by reviewing the Alternative Education Handbook.

Higher Education

Medicine Hat College main campus services almost 2,500 students each year with another 200 attending Brooks Campus, located 100 km west of Medicine Hat. Currently, more than 30 diplomas and certificates are offered along with 25 university transfer programs as well as several opportunities for degree completion at MHC including nursing, applied arts, and social work.   Athabasca University is Canada 's leading distance education and online university. The institution offers a variety of certificate, diploma, degree, graduate programs.
