The Province of Alberta continues to have one of the hottest housing markets in Canada . Homes in the Palliser Region
continue to be relatively reasonably priced. According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), 1,876 homes
were sold in 2006 with an average price of $209,045. In comparison, the average selling price for a home in Alberta was
$285,383 and in Canada was $276,959 in the same year.
The vacancy rates in Medicine Hat for rental units was about 1.7 percent in April 2007, compared to about 1.0 percent
