The cost of natural gas fluctuates according to world-wide supply and demand. While Medicine Hat residents and businesses enjoy generally lower prices than anywhere else, deregulation has resulted in a number of natural gas providers competing for residential customers and working to deliver customers natural gas at competitive prices.

Waste and Water Treatment

The main water source in the region is the South Saskatchewan River Basin . There are six waste management authorities, commissions or landfills in the region to manage the communities' waste. In addition, there are several companies that handle hazardous waste and recyclables in the region.
