Climate
Sunshine coupled with warm dry summers means more time to spend outdoors and exploring our region. The low altitude of the region produces a very warm climate, with particular areas often matching or surpassing the “hot spot” of Canada. Winters have become very mild over the last few years with average temperatures on the rise.
Medicine Hat is Canada’s sunniest city, receiving an average of 2,513 hours of sunshine per year. The average temperature during July is 23 Celsius (73.4 Fahrenheit); during January is -12.6 Celsius (9.3 Fahrenheit). Mean rainfall is only 230 mm (8.7 inches) per year.
