EducationProviding access to education and training opportunities is essential in creating a well-prepared workforce and strong communities. Southeast Alberta schools, college, other education institutions and have a lot to offer newcomers in lifelong learning. Public School The County of Newell is served by the Grasslands School Division #6 with main offices based in Brooks, Alberta. Public schools are located in Bassano, Gem, Rosemary, Duchess, Rolling Hills, Rainier, Tilley and Brooks.

Separate, Private & Francophone Schools Christ the Redeemer School Division, headquartered in Okotoks (Tel: 403-938-4575), serves the area’s separate school needs. Brooks: Newell Christian Society (private) Tel: 403-378-4448 Greater Southern Public Francophone Education Region No. 4 Tel: 403-362-2010 Virtual and Home Schooling St. Paul's Academy, which is affiliated with the Christ the Redeemer School Division, provides on-line courses for high school students. Also, parents have the option to home school their children. Continuing Education The Brooks Community Adult Learning Council (BCALC) provides educational programs and non-credit courses to the community of Brooks.
Post-Secondary Education Medicine Hat College (MHC) has been serving students in southeastern Alberta and beyond since 1965. Situated in Canada’s sunniest city, MHC’s main campus services almost 3,000 students each year with another 200 attending Brooks Campus, located 100 km west of Medicine Hat. With some of the lowest student-to-instructor ratios in the province, MHC offers a very personal, one-on-one student experience. MHC offers a wide variety of programs to meet the ever-changing needs of students from southeastern Alberta and around the world. The Brooks Campus of the Medicine Hat College is located in Brooks and offers high school upgrading, university and college transfer courses, business training courses and apprenticeship courses.
