Taxes
Residential property taxes
are definitely a factor to consider when relocating. Although taxes
vary depending on the community, Albertans paid the lowest provincial
and municipal taxes, overall, in Canada in 2006/2007.
The Village has a flat tax policy in place. All properties valued
at under $8,000 the tax is $200. Properties valued between $19,000
for residential and $17, 700 the tax is $400.
For 2007 the rate is
$21.06 per $1,000 of assessed value for residential taxpayers and
$22.58 per $1,000 of assessed value for commercial ratepayers.
Tax
payments are due August 31 of each year. Tax notices are mailed out
by June 30 of each year and the appeal deadline is July 31. Payments
are to be delivered to the Village Office during regular hours or
they can be mailed. The Village accepts cash, cheque (may be post
dated) or money orders.
